DIVISION 1A AND 1AA SCHOOLS

Division 1A There are 121 Division 1A Colleges with football programs in 2007. These are the largest Universities. The Division 1-A National Championship is currently awarded via the Bowl Championship Series system.

Division 1-AA: (also known as the "Football Championship Subdivision") There are 120 Division 1-AA Colleges/Universities with football programs in 2005. These are divided into 15 conferences and a group of several independent colleges.
